Tawatawa News

Friday 3 May

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles

New T-shirts are here!

…and they’re looking fabulous! These are on sale for $50 and are available from the office.

Pre-loved clothing sale

On Saturday 8th June from 12 - 2pm we are having a pre-loved clothing sale (+ sausage sizzle lunch/bake sale). Now’s a great time to have a clear out and find all your good condition children's, men's and women's clothes/shoes you no longer want. These can be dropped in Tawa in one of the containers by the doors. On the day we will also have our kapa haka group perform before the sale starts so put it in your diary and tell your friends (and enemies, we want their money too).

Kiwi Hoops

We are excited to welcome Kiwi Hoops to our school for the next 6 weeks.  This is a national basketball programme which uses activities and game based learning to build fundamental skills, supporting children to grow their confidence and love for the game.  Basketball coaches come in every week and run sessions with all our children.  Year 1 - 4 will have their sessions on Tuesday and Year 5 - 8 are on Thursday.  Get those basketball shoes on!

Kind Hearts School

We have joined the Kind Hearts Movement to promote kindness in classrooms, across the school and into the community. The Kind Hearts Trust is a small trust based in Palmerston North, its vision is a kinder world and its volunteers work to promote kindness in the community. One of its projects is supplying resources to schools so children can have fun both giving and receiving kindness and can learn the importance of being kind to themselves.

Keep your eyes open for random acts of kindness from your children and it’s great when they see the adults in their lives doing small random acts of kindness too.

An update from Flora and Hassan

They have moved into their house now and have a message of thanks to everyone that offered help and support:

We would love to thank each one of you for helping us recover from our house fire.
We understand times are tough, and it means the world to us to receive so much support and love from the community, friends and family.
We are really overwhelmed with the love and care that we’ve received these last couple of weeks, and we feel so proud of being part of such a supportive and caring community.

Arohanui from our family to yours!
Hasan, Flora, Tami and Rafi

(We can also support them further by going to the wonderful Damascus!)

Pedal Ready

This has started today with our Year 5s.  All our seniors will be learning bike riding skills and practising safe cycling over the following term.  (It’s also the only way we could get Mr Crow to work here on Fridays, as he’s a Pedal Ready instructor on this day!)

Nits!

Ew! They’re back, particularly in Ruru and Kererū. Please check your child’s hair and treat accordingly (cue every person reading this starting to scratch their heads worriedly).
