Friday 22 March

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Massive thank you parent helpers (and Pam!)

We had such a great time at Athletics Day yesterday.  The weather was beautiful, there were loads of successes with tamariki giving it a go and thankfully dehydration stayed away with everyone keeping their fluids up!  The water fountain was as popular as a water cooler in an American sitcom! Here is a photo of the parents about to beat the children in a fair and equitable relay race (no correspondence will be entered into). Massive thanks to all our parent helpers and to Pam, chief organiser extraordinaire.

Easter break

Some of you might not realise that the Tuesday after Easter is a holiday for schools.  We have a Staff Only Day on the Thursday before Easter (28 March) and then Tuesday following Easter is a holiday.

Union Meeting

This is happening next Tuesday from 1pm.  All our union members (the majority of our teachers) will attend this offsite meeting. If possible, pick your child up at lunchtime (which starts at 12.40), otherwise the staff left at school will supervise them until the end of the day. If your child is allowed to make their own way home at lunch time, please let the office know.

Opportunity to join the Board

With one of our wonderful Board members leaving to head back overseas next term, we have an opening on the Board. The Board member who is leaving is currently our finance person, but you wouldn’t necessarily have to be to join. If you’d like to be involved with a great group of people who meet twice a term and be involved in the ‘behind the scenes’ of the school, send an email expressing your interest to ridgwaybot@gmail.com.

New signage out the front

Some of you will have noticed construction going on in front of the school. Nice Pozi are doing our final piece of work, creating a beautiful sign designed by Mark Newdick, at Local Collective.  It will also include four hard wood pou whenua which are being carved by a local carver.

Basketball and netball sign ups!

We are still looking for players for our Year 3/4 and 5/6 teams basketball teams. Year 3/4 play on Tuesday and Year 5/6 are on Wednesday (all at Ākau Tangi, the sports centre in Kilbirnie). If your child is keen to play, sign up here

The Year 5/6 and 7/8 netball season is coming up next term.  Teams play on Saturdays at Evans Bay Intermediate in Kilbirnie. Please register interest using this form and, as always, we will be looking for parent help to coach and manage our teams.
