Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Farewell to Doctor Nicolas Delaire

Sadly for us, it is Nicolas’ last day with us today.  He is off to be a high school teacher in the Hutt, teaching French and Spanish to unruly teenagers.  Nic has been with us for five years since the start of Ruru La Chouette and he has been an integral part of our school and the whole set up of the bilingual French class.  When he first started we only understood about every fifth word he said, now we understand most of them (although sometimes pretend not to). We will miss his intelligence, knowledge of things no one else knows about, his humour, bad jokes and passion for education. Miss you already Dr Delaire!

Congratulations to all our basketball teams!

We officially love basketball at school and all our teams finished their seasons this week. We couldn’t be such a great basketball school without incredible coaches so a massive thank you all of them.  All of the teams had great seasons and the dedication of the coaches, managers, parents and of course our basketballers themselves was evident in how each and every team practised hard each week and played even harder. Congratulations to all!  Our Year 3/4 team cleaned up their division with a 32-16 victory!

Tournament of Minds

Our two Tournament of Minds teams competed in the Nationals at the weekend. Thank you to all the parents who ferried their children there and then spent the day at university and supported the teams, even providing older siblings as judges and being room supervisors. We are so proud of both teams winning their regional competitions and going through to the Nationals! Bring on next year!

It’s time for hats and sunblock

Term 4 is a hat term. Please make sure your child has a wide brimmed hat and sunblock in their bag. We have sunblock at school for those who don’t bring it but the stuff you have at home is probably nicer!

Online Enrolment

We now have an online enrolment form available for all new enrolments. If you’re planning on enrolling, or know any families looking at enrolling at Tawatawa - Ridgway, save a tree and use this online form!

Scholastic books for our library

When you buy rock collections and squishy toys (or books) from Scholastic Book Club, the school gets money to spend on books. Here are some of the books we purchased recently.  Happy reading!
