Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Open mornings in the junior school

Tui: Tuesday morning

Kotare: Friday morning

Ruru: Friday morning

You are welcome to come into the classroom on your child’s open day and get them to show you around and share what they are currently working on. It will be great to start to get whānau back in the classrooms again.

Upcoming photo day

Here is a link to the information from Inspire. Sibling photos will be on June 2nd and out of school siblings can come at 8.30 to get their sibling photos taken.

Matariki celebration

This year we are having our Matariki celebration at school, during school time on Thursday 23 June.  We will have a hangi at school for the children to enjoy.  Children will be involved in the preparation of this and we will let you know more once we have the details.

CO2 Detectives

We have a little team of CO2 detectives going around the classes measuring the CO2 levels in the classes. With all the windows open and trying to keep all our spaces well ventilated and healthy, it is good to get the official read on the numbers. International studies show to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission, getting under 800 ppm is ideal so that is what we are working to. You can read Kathryn’s Building Diary here, with an update about ventilation.

Board Elections

This is on September 7th this year. It would be great if parents consider standing for the Board - we’d love to have you!  You can find more information about what it means to be on the Board of Trustees here.

Cross Country - Thursday 19 May

This is happening next Thursday. Children start on the field at the bottom of the zig-zag path and then run the course (which is different for the different age groups) and finish through a finishing chute in the middle of the field. You are welcome to come and watch your child run!

We are very pleased to advise that on Saturday 21st May we will be open to visitors to the Omāroro reservoir project.

This will be the only opportunity for residents to enter the reservoir and see the scale of the project from the inside.

Please note the following:

Date: Saturday 21st May 2022

  • Time 10:00am to 11:00am. Feel free to arrive from 9:45am

  • Entry via Hargreaves street

  • Please wear closed toe shoes with a good grip. Tramping boots or trainers are ideal

  • Children are welcome. However, will need to be very closely supervised with one adult per child under the age of 12

  • People who are wary of heights should possibly avoid going to the top of the reservoir

  • Feel free to take photographs

Our visitors will be able to:

Visit the top of the reservoir – offering great views of Wellington

  • This is via a scaffolding staircase – See pictures below

  • Will be in small groups of a maximum of 15 at a time. Each group will be accompanied by one of the project team

  • There are barriers in place, and we will keep you well away from the edges of the roof etc.

  • Go into the reservoir itself and walk under the half of the roof we have poured

    • Access is via a scaffolding staircase

    • See the scaffolding in place for the second half of the pour

    • See the various pipework in place

    • The interior is cathedral like and will likely take your breath away

    • This will be a unique experience. We will be prohibited from taking visitors inside the reservoir once the second half of the roof is ready for pouring
